RITES SUBMITS PRELIMINARY STUDY REPORT OF JEWAR AIRPORT METRO CORRIDOR


Noida (Urban Transport News): RITES Limited has submitted its preliminary report to Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL). The detailed project report (DPR) is also expected soon. NIAL is targeted to start flying services from the Jewar Airport in 2023. The district administration is now working on the land acquisition process and handing it over to the Yamuna Expressway and Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).
RITES has suggested the options of road, rapid rail, and metro to connect Noida International Airport (also known as Jewar Airport) with Delhi. RITES has identified two roadways, two rapid rail routes and one metro route to connect Jewar Airport to Delhi. Apart from this, the firm has also suggested widenings of roads to connect Aligarh and Bharatpur cities.
Tender for development of International Airport already floated. Over 20 domestic as well s international bidders have purchased the tender documents so far. The last date of closing and submission of the tender document is 30th October 2019. The price bid will be opened on 29th November and based on the bidding criteria final bidder will be selected.
According to the preliminary report, Bharatpur and Aligarh will be connected by the widening of roads. RITES has stated in its survey report that to connect Bharatpur, 40 km of road will have to be widened. It will cost Rs 560 crore. Similarly, 65 km of road will have to be widened to improve connectivity to Aligarh. This project will cost around Rs 910 crore.
The first road route from Urban Extension Road to Yamuna Expressway will be covered, it will have 48 km at grade and 34 km elevated. The only elevated road is to be built on it. Apart from this, the option to connect Anuvrat Marg and MB Road (Mehrauli Badarpur) to Yamuna Expressway has also suggested. The existing route has 26 km at grade level and 52.5 km is elevated. It will have to be built 49.5 km only.
In the preliminary report, it has been said that the total 43 districts will come within a 200 km radius of Jewar International Airport. Travelers from these districts would prefer to travel from Jewar Airport instead of Delhi. In the survey, these districts have been classified into four categories according to distance. Shailendra Bhatia, the nodal officer of Jewar Airport, said that RITES has conducted a detailed survey to facilitate the access of Delhi and other cities to Jewar Airport. There are many suggestions to connect Jewar Airport to Delhi. These will be considered. A decision will be taken soon.
Connectivity through Rapid Rail
Jewar Airport can be connected by rapid rail. Two routes have been suggested for this. The length of the first route will be 88 kilometers. It will have 62 km of elevated and 26 km of the underground. Out of this, only the underground has to be built. It will cost Rs 8680 crore.
The second option of the rapid rail is also given. It will be on the support of the Delhi-Alwar RRTS and Delhi-Palwal RRTS route. Its length will be 98 kilometers. It will have 72 km elevated and 21 km underground. Out of this, only 25 km will have to be elevated. It will cost Rs 3500 crore.
Metro will connect South Delhi
RITES has suggested connecting South Delhi to Jewar Airport. This route will be 81.56 km. It will have 66.6 km elevated and 14 km underground. Out of this, 14 kilometers of elevated and 1 kilometer of underground will have to be built. It will cost Rs 2540 crore.
Proposed Road
Urban Extension Road – 2 will be connected to Yamuna Expressway. The total length of the route will be 82 km and the estimated expenditure would be Rs 3740 crore.
Yamuna Express Way to be connected to Anuvrat Marg and MB Road. The total length of the route will be 78.5 km and the estimated expenditure would be Rs 5445 crore.
