Adani Group likely to emerge as winner for Rs 29,560 crore Jewar airport
Greater Noida (Urban Transport News): The Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL) has opened the Technical bids for selection of the concessionaire for the Jewar International Airport at its Greater Noida office on Tuesday.
Total of four bidders viz. Adani Enterprises Limited, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), Zurich Airport International AG and Anchorage Infrastructure Investments Holdings Limited have participated in the bidding process.
Updating the bidding process, Nodal officer, NIAL, Shailendra Bhatia said:
He said that the airport consultant PwC will evaluate their qualifications as per the detailed documents received from all four bidders and present a report to the NIAL within a week. Thereafter, the report would be presented to the Project Monitoring and Implementation Committee (PMIC) and the decision taken on the selection of the concessionaire.
A highly placed source said that four bidders were picked from a pool of 20 that had participated in the bid. As per rule, the DIAL has the right of first refusal (ROFR) for the Jewar Airport Project and there are maximum chances that Adani Enterprises may finally emerge as the winner. Recently, the Adani Enterprises won the bidding for the six international airports leased out by the Central government under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
On May 30, a global tender was floated by NIAL to hire a developer for the proposed greenfield airport who can manage the international mega greenfield airport project in Gautam Buddh Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 29,560 crores.
The proposed Jewar International Airport will be the third biggest airport in the national capital region (NCR) after Indira Gandhi International Airport and Hindon Airport which will be spread over 5,000 hectares. It will have six to eight runways.
According to the preliminary report submitted by the RITES, the first phase of Jewar airport would be developed with a cost of Rs 4,588 crores and will spread over 1,334 hectares. The project is expected to be completed by 2023.
