Uttar Pradesh: Business hub to come up on 500 acres near Jewar airport
GREATER NOIDA: Nearly 500 acres of land in Sector 29 along the Yamuna Expressway will be used for turning the area around the upcoming Jewar airport into a Business Hub.
The project includes a 200-acre textile hub that could give a boost to the ailing garments industry in the city. It will also house a handicraft park and an expo mart in the same facility.
The apparel park will have space for about 300 shops and is looking to attract investment worth Rs 3,000 crore, as well as tourists.
The cluster would act as a common facility for sale and export of furniture, hard goods, apparels, garments, fashion goods as well as jewelry items.
On Saturday, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) declared that the process to identify a consultant for the Textile Hub, being developed in consultation with Noida Apparel Export Cluster, has been initiated.
Tenders will be floated soon, officials said.
The project is expected to come up next year.
Along with this, the authority has also finalized plans to dedicate 300 acres of land in Sector 29 to establish a mall for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) along the expressway, in which 500 enterprises will be housed.
The mall will be used to showcase products developed or manufactured by small units.
The authority is considering inviting registered members of the export cluster and two dozen exporters across NCR.
YEIDA chief executive officer (CEO) Arun Vir Singh said the common facility will empower the local women as well. “We will take benefits of the government schemes to promote exports,” added Singh.
Meanwhile, the authority has also approved plans to establish a skill development center on a 2.4-acre land parcel in the city. To be developed by the state government, the center will provide vocational courses to students interested in obtaining industrial training diplomas or certificates.
